Our lines come from twenty-five years of breeding and training, much of it in the assistance-dog world. The result is a golden with an off switch: happy on a hike, settled at home. Many go on to work as therapy, facility, and service dogs. Others just win ribbons.

Meet Cindy
Cindy has spent more than twenty-five years breeding, raising and training dogs. She started with Weimaraners in 1999, moved into the assistance-dog world in 2001, and has produced hundreds of assistance dogs through careful breeding and rearing, founding two national non-profit assistance-dog organizations along the way, while raising three children. She is an AKC Canine Good Citizen evaluator and an associate dog trainer, breeds and competes with Golden Retrievers and Clumber Spaniels in AKC events, and is a member of the Valle del Sol Golden Retriever Club.
Our mission
We breed the full range of golden retriever shades, from very light cream and blonde to dark red, and every line, light or dark, comes from assistance-dog and performance backgrounds. What we select for above color is temperament: a calmer, lower-arousal golden with an off switch. They still love a hike and a game of fetch, but at home they settle, which is why so many of our puppies go on to work as therapy, facility, and service dogs, and why families with young kids keep coming back.
Our dogs are cherished members of our family, living and being raised in our homes in Peoria and Scottsdale to experience all aspects of family life. Puppies are born and nurtured in a loving environment and exposed to an active home life that makes for a smooth transition to their forever homes. We follow the Puppy Culture program, and Westwing was the first Certified Puppy Culture Golden Retriever breeder in Arizona.

Health testing you can verify
Every one of our breeding dogs completes the full set of clearances recommended by the Golden Retriever Club of America before being bred: OFA hips and elbows at two years or older, a heart exam by a board-certified veterinary cardiologist, an eye exam by a veterinary ophthalmologist, and a full DNA panel covering PRA1, PRA2, prcd-PRA, ichthyosis 1 and 2, NCL, and DM. Results are on file with the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA). Good Dog, which screens breeders’ health practices independently, recognizes Westwing Retrievers as a Top Performer for health testing, and we are an AKC Bred with H.E.A.R.T. breeder. We don’t publish our dogs’ registered names or test results online, but we share full pedigrees and OFA records with approved applicants.
Every puppy goes home with: a written contract, a 7-day any-reason return, a 2-year genetic health warranty, limited AKC registration with a non-breeding agreement, and a lifetime take-back promise. Read the terms →
Clumber Spaniels, too
Alongside our goldens, Cindy also breeds and competes with Clumber Spaniels. Clumber litters are occasional, at most one a year, so if you’re looking for a Clumber Spaniel puppy from an Arizona breeder, please apply and tell us, and we’ll let you know when a litter is planned.
A note on color, and a term you’ll see online
You’ll see the phrase “English Cream Golden Retriever” all over the internet. It isn’t a breed, a color, or anything the AKC recognizes; it’s a sales term. What people usually mean is a light-colored golden from European lines, and some of our dogs do come from those lines. But color isn’t what we breed for. Every Westwing puppy, from the lightest cream to the darkest red, is bred to be a potential assistance dog: calm, steady, and eager to work with people. Whatever shade you’re drawn to, we’d rather talk about temperament first.
